Browser, desktop and phone

The same engine on every platform, and what each one carries — so you can pick the right one and know what to expect from it.

Traxlate is one engine and one set of checks, delivered three ways. The browser app is the most complete; the desktop and phone apps are the same translation with the platform's own advantages. The downloads page has every build with its date.

Browser (traxlate.com)

Everything: Translate, Documents, PDF, Pictures, Camera, Talk, Subtitles, Dub, the Desk, glossary and memory. Works in current desktop and mobile browsers; installs as an app from the browser's menu so it opens in its own window and receives shared files. The pack lives in the site's storage. The one thing a browser cannot do is run when it is closed.

Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux)

Translate, Documents, Pictures, PDF, Subtitles, Batch, Glossary, History and Settings, with a system tray icon, a global shortcut for the quick translate window, and screenshot OCR from the keyboard. The engine, the pack and the checker live in a folder in your home directory and load faster than in a browser; on a machine with a supported graphics card the engine uses it. The desktop app is the better home for very large documents. The downloads page says plainly which builds are signed and which will show a first-run warning from the operating system.

Phone (Android, iOS)

Translate, Talk, Documents, Pictures and the Camera, with the full engine running on the phone itself — no signal needed after the one-time download. Share a photo, a file or text to Traxlate from any app. The phone apps do not carry PDF, Subtitles or Dub; the browser does, on the same phone.

Different by platform, on purpose

Where files are stored (the platform's own storage), and so what "clear" means.
Speed. A laptop with a graphics card is fast; a phone is slower and says so; nothing falls back to a server.
Voice input, which uses the platform's speech recognition.
